EU Says ‘Ready to Do More If Needed’ on Euro Stability

Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- The European Union “stands ready to do more if needed” to ensure the euro area’s stability, EU President Herman Van Rompuy said in Budapest.

The euro area is “fundamentally sound” and needs to work to correct “divergences” among the 16 members that currently share the common currency, Van Rompuy said in a speech today. Estonia will adopt the euro next month.
