As the Winter Olympic Games near it is heartening to note that the elite Estonian cross-country skiiers are ready to compete. Last year's silver medallist at the World Championships Andrus Veerpalu is rounding into form.

Hot on his heels is Jaak Mae, who last weekend at the Nove Mesto 10 km free-style comopetition finished second, rising to third place in the over-all points category in World Cup competition.

Raul Olle has also consistently placed among the leaders, rrecently winning anon WC competition.

Among the women the Shmigun sisters Kristiina and Katrin cannot be counted out. It is to be hoped that their best efforts of the season will be on display in Utah, and media coverage will enable the world to note the quality of our winter athletes.
