Katrin Laur’s “The Graveyard Keeper’s Daughter” is an obvious choice for the Estonian entry at this year’s European Union Film Festival in Toronto. Judged best film in the Baltic Film Competition in Riga this fall and winner of the International Critics’ prize it has gained a solid reputation in a very short time.
The director, Katrin Laur has worked both in Germany and Switzerland, and is known for her “controversial” work in documentary films. She is also the director of the successful family film “Ruudi”.
In it’s seventh year the EU festival is sponsored by the European Union consulates in Toronto. The event has been steadily gaining in audience size and is making its mark as one of the recognized festivals in a city that boasts the highest number of regular festivals in the world.
“The Graveyard Keeper’s Daughter” will be screened on Tuesday, November 22, 2001 at the Royal Cinema, 608 College St., (west of Bathurst) at 8:30 pm. Admission free.
