Estonian Air Force Helicopter Pilots Heading to Afghanistan

U.S. Embassy Tallinn July 30, 2012
Two Estonian Air Force helicopter pilots, fresh from training in the United States, will head to Afghanistan in the coming weeks to take part in the Afghanistan mission as medical evacuation pilots.

Captains Rene Kallis and Martin Noorsalu have just completed their year-long training program with the Maryland National Guard at their Aberdeen training field. These pilots will serve in the medical evacuation unit in Helmand province, flying the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. This marks the first time since the restoration of independence that Estonian Air Force pilots are participating in international military operations.

We are delighted at the continued cooperation between our two nations this work demonstrates.
