Estonia's Minister of Agriculture Helir-Valdor Seeder signed an agreement at the Internationale Grüne Woche (International Green Week) agriculture, food and gardening fair in Berlin that states that Estonia will be a partner country to the fair in 2014.
The minister has previously said that becoming a partner county means a great opportunity for Estonia to introduce its local cuisine and food culture on the international level, as well as to introduce Estonia as a tourism destination.
Taking place this year for the 78th time, the Grüne Woche fair is laid out on 115 000 square meters and is estimated to get more than 400 000 visits during 10 days. In this year's fair 1 630 exhibitors from 67 countries are taking part and the fair will also host approximately 300 different forums to be attended by top-level politicians from the participating countries. This year the fair runs from 18-27 January.
Estonia has been represented at Grüne Woche with a stand of its own since 1993. The stand is commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture and organised by the Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce.
This year the partner country of Gruene Woche is the Netherlands. In 2012 the partner country was Romania.
