Edward Lucas at Tartu College
25 Apr 2014 EWR Online
Edward Lucas offered a real treat to his many fans in the Estonian community on Thursday, April 24th at Tartu College, Toronto. His lecture "Why Estonia Matters" offered profound insights into the relationship between Russia and the West, concentrating on the significant and capable role that Estonia plays in the middle, especially in light of the serious challenges it has faced since re-independence. The lecture was well received, eliciting many questions and comments from the audience. The event concluded with a standing ovation, which, according to Jaan Meri, President of the Tartu College, was a historical first for the Tartu Lecture series.

Edward Lucas works for The Economist, the London-based global newsweekly. He was the Moscow bureau chief from 1998-2002, and thereafter the Central and Eastern European correspondent. He has been a correspondent for The Independent and the BBC and occasionally writes for The Daily Mail.

Edward Lucas has published two books:
The New Cold War: Putin's Russia and the Threat to the West (2008) and
Deception: The Untold Story of East-West Espionage Today (2012).
