Celebrating International Jazz Day
01 May 2012 EWR Online
U.S. Embassy, Tallinn April 30, 2012
Although jazz was born in America, the United States is proud to sponsor the designation of April 30th as “International Jazz Day.” Jazz has become an art form played and enjoyed across cultures, languages, and musical traditions and in countries around the globe.

Jazz holds the continuing promise of bridging gaps between peoples, elevating our shared aspirations, and providing a common platform for our many and varied cultural traditions. Indeed, jazz has found a home in so many countries, and just this weekend, Estonia concluded its 10-day Jazzkaar festival, with support from many organizations, including the U.S. Embassy. Artists from Estonia, the U.S. and around the world thrilled audiences with both old and new forms of jazz, proving once again that “jazz is... One of life's greatest gifts: fun found within surprise.” (Quote anonymous).
