Bishop Mohr visits Vancouver church
17 Sep 2010 EL (Estonian Life)
On Sunday, August 29, newly elected B.C. Synod Bishop Gregory Mohr made one of his first Visitations to St. Peter's Estonian Lutheran Church in Vancouver.

Bishop Mohr was elevated to Bishop in July. He is a third generation pastor in the Lutheran Church.

In his sermon, Bishop Mohr brought the mostly elderly congregation's attention to the possibilities for new ministry. Citing the documentary, "Singing Revolution" Bishop Mohr noted what can come of a seemingly hopeless situation. He said, the most important thing an elderly congregation can undertake is to pray for other members and pray for the church. This charisma can easily be adopted and is most needed for the church today.

Bishop Mohr is a gifted preacher. He had the undivided attention of the congregation right from the beginning of the sermon.

Following the worship service, the congregation adjourned to a richly endowed table of food and coffee. There Bishop Mohr spoke of the life of the Canadian Lutheran Church as well as a bit about his background in it.
