The city’s top doctor has issued yet another heat warning as the GTA prepares for another bout of scorching temperatures.

Thursday will see a high of 33 C but it will feel closer to 38 with the humidity.

Friday is shaping up to be one of the hottest days of the summer with a high of 34 C, feeling closer to 43 with humidity.

Saturday will see a high of 33 C.

A heat warning issued by Environment Canada remains in effect for Toronto, the GTA and most of Ontario.

In a news release issued by the city Thursday, Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Toronto’s Acting Medical Officer of Health, advised people to check on family and friends who are at risk of suffering from heat-related illnesses. Those at risk include people with chronic illnesses, those with limited mobility, infants and young children, and people who are homeless.

During the heat, residents are advised to drink plenty of cool water, stay in air-conditioned spaces, wear loose, light-coloured clothing when outdoors and reschedule outdoor activities to cooler parts of the day.

People are also reminded not to leave children or pets in hot cars.

This is the seventh heat warning issued by the city this year.
