The Baltic American Freedom League has voted to present the 2012 Baltic Freedom Award to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The Baltic Freedom Award recognizes individuals or organizations whose efforts have made a significant contribution for freedom and independence for the Baltic and other nations. Secretary Clinton is being recognized for her long, effective, and unwavering support for the independence and security of the Baltic nations and her strong stand in support of the democratic freedom movement in today's Russia.

The Award will be presented at the Baltic American Freedom League's Annual Awards Banquet which is scheduled for April 14, 2012 in Los Angeles. Though Secretary Clinton has graciously accepted the award invitation, she will not be able accept the award in person due to scheduling conflicts, but hopes to have representative from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs accept the award in her place.
