Eesti keeles, too (this clarification).
Require that the whole meeting be held in both languages. Language conveys more than "information', it conveys what is meaningful and important to people.
Explain "proxy".

Proxy can only be assigned to a shareholder. New requirement. Against Robert's Rules. What about non-shareholders with POA? Last meeting in April 2017 this was not an issue.

>Shareholders must return proxies to the Estonian House office at least six (6) hours in advance of the meeting in accordance with a resolution of the Directors of Eesti Maja.

When was this resolution adopted?

It seems like moving the rules around.
EHB would have an insight on how the vote might go, but no one else would have that "inside" information.

I am assuming that by encouraging people to register proxies in advance it will make the entire registration/voting procedure FAR smoother and faster.

It makes complete sense to me.

This was announced weeks in advance so is not a last minute change of any sort.
Count for what?09 Feb 2018 10:55
There is no vote or proposal or resolution on the agenda or in the "Requisition" - Seems to me that shareholders should have advance notice of any meaningful business? Otherwise, who wants to go hear a bunch of over-excited idiots loudly making unfounded accusations based on misinformation, innuendo and vanity?

Indeed! what am I voting on that I need to attend. A resolution from the floor?

I have no idea what we would be voting on, but I hope we have at least one last chance to save the Esto House on Broadview via a vote.

The Esto House board is so slimy and sneaky, all shareholder should attend to do our best at keeping the board honest.

Democratic societies permit and encourage open discussion, lively debate and differing opinions. But true democracy only thrives if citizens show respect for their counterparts and behave with civility themselves. Quoting Samuel Johnson: "When once the forms of civility are violated, there remains little hope of return to kindness or decency."

Has our tiny Estonian-Canadian heritage community in Toronto already violated the bounds of civility? One might think so given all the rude, accusatory, insulting and libellous comments posted to this website, especially in the last few months.

If not for each other, then for the sake of our kids, their kids and the greater good of our community, let's reach out for that glimmer of hope. For without kindness and decency we are nothing!

Let's continue discussing issues and concerns, but using facts and data. Let's not make unfounded accusations. Let's not suggest conspiracies or ulterior motives. Most importantly let's avoid character assassinations of our fellow Estonians, our thankless volunteers and our friends!

Elagu EV-100 ja Kanada eestlaskond!

Arguably there's been too much emphasis on form, too little on content, from the outset.

name calling for no purpose is totally pointless . what is frustrating is that a great number of individuals would like to see what the alternative vision is and how it is sustainable. logic defies voting the Madison project down when the undefined alternative even less understood. you need to do your homework.
