How much is needed?

So far we have one quote at $120,000 for the Grand Hall roof and we are waiting on other quotes.
We will need half of this if we get a grant.
In the first half week or so we already have over $20,000 in pledges!
Thanks for asking.

Great to hear you have a quote and that funds are coming in. I will be donating.

I have heard on the grapevine that the cost of the roof repair of the first quote is considerable (6 figures). Just curious, what factors of the EM roof are making the cost of roof repair that costly? The size of the roof should not be more than that of, let's say, possibly 6 residential roof tops (at $5,000 a pop, that would come to roughly $30,000). I'm just trying to understand the difference in cost. I'm sure there is a good reason.

Here's hoping that the other quotes are of quality and are less! Thanks for looking after our House. I consider it good news in the wake of life moving on without the condo project.

I think comparing a residential roof to to commercial roof is not helpful.

It is not just the area.

Esto house was enlarged in stages and that means the connection points from one area to the other areas would have been an issue from day one. It is my understanding that we have needed a new roof at Esto House for many many years and we have been "patching things"

So that means the underlying insulation might be rotted and needs to be replaced. Also the metal frame can deteriorate due to moisture.

Thus, if we have multiple quotes it typically best to take the middle priced quote after following up with references.

It is rarely a good idea to take the lowest quote... when doing large scale jobs... especially if the difference in quotes is large.

Should really be a red flag if there is a super low price quoted.

All reputable roofers will be within the same range..... and might be higher if they have too many jobs they will mark themselves up higher.

From my experience putting out a tender now... means the roofing company can get their staff working as soon as weather permits and they actually give better prices at this time of year.

If they can snag a job early in the season... otherwise their staff will jump companies... so they really want to quote things this time of year.

another kudos to those who had the initiative to get quotes.. now.. get a few more. Tis the season... the roofers have not been working ... and want jobs as soon as the weather gets nice.

Please ensure the insurance from the roofer is in place to mitigate liability to Esto House.

You MUST get them to have Esto House as a named on the insurance document.

Please ensure the current insurer of Esto house is involved with this aspect before you accept a roofer.

Wow how wonderful that you all were able to get a 50/50 sponsor! Kudos.

Historically Estonians have given generously to the community spaces. I mean benefactors in our community.

It is my understanding we have many in the Estonian community that could really donate handsome sums... we can put their names onto a sponsorship plaque.

Of course.. the Estonian House Board whom I assume have the the Estonian house best interests in mind will also reach into their pockets to help out with some funds.... yes?

Now if only we can do some marketing of our spaces... then we might actually start earning some revenue....that might also help to fund the roof.
