Reading this article one gets the impression that it was Churchill that declared war to defend Poland rather than Chamberain "the appeaser". Given that Britain needed time to arm it was probably prudent to appease regarding the Sudetenland. Also, realistically Churchill,s personal relationship with with Roosevelt was crucial to Britain,s survival. He even went along with signing the Atlantic Charter only to quietly state that it did not apply to the British empire.
Trump,s position is that the US taxpayer should not be covering three quarters of the cost of Nato when its fair share should be a third of that. Trump is not beholden to Putin-the election was not rigged.
It is inconceivable that the European Union cannot defend itself with its greater population and wealth. Even mighty Germany alone should be able to defeat Russia provided it doesn,t declare war on the US at the same time like it did last time.
We no longer live in 1938 or the cold war era and we really do not know what president Trump is going to do nor not do. Lets wait a while before we start comparing him to some long dead British prime minister whose reputation is being reconsidered by some historians given files that are opening up.
Also, there is no evidence that president Trump is unwilling to defend Estonia which has met its 2% GNP obligation.
