This incoherent last minute scramble to make up for four years of embarrassment and bumbling exemplifies the past decade for EKN (including this hurriedly slapped together article). Many of the accomplishments listed have no connection with EKN or its executive. The organization has been run like a personal club for one family and fraternity. A sad, and pathetic end to a once great organization.

There is still time to consider running. Voting is open to all Estonians and their spouses.

To be a candidate you must complete an application form, which can be downloaded from the Eesti Elu website (http://www.eestielu.ca/images/... ) or request one from . This is the preferred method.
Each application requires 2 signatures from eligible voters.
There is no application fee.
The application should be scanned (or take a photo of your completed application) and emailed with a digital photo (passport size) and a brief bio (maximum 50 words) illustrating your education, experience, why you are a great candidate and why people should vote for you.
Applications submitted by email will be acknowledged within 2 business days and must be electronically submitted by noon November 30th to ensure you are included on the ballot.

If it's a nonprofit org, it's books should be open to the public or at least to all members, should they not?

As for the World Council, do they have a website? What exactly do they do?

EKN, please publish your most recent financial info. If your fiscal year runs from Oct 1 to Sept 30 then last year's results should be ready. Sharing this info will help voters.

Perhaps thankfully the end of the EKN is in sight. It seems it might become the repository of former Harperites and Conservatives, who are looking for a reason to exist.

During the Soviet occupation, the EKN was an important forum for free Estonians. Now, it's time to change with the times.
We should focus on preserving our language. That implies developing our ties to the homeland, especially among our young people. In addition, we should take care of each other by way of supporting our institutions -- our Churches, Seedrioru, Jõekääru, Ehatare etc.

I heard that there is some voting block that has almost complete control over who gets elected to EKN. Does anyone know what the story is here?
