This isn't news so I'm left wondering what the point of this article is? The fact is, there are many Russians who are Estonian citizens, many of them have lived there all their life and like it or not, they're not going anywhere. If they have the right to vote, it stands to reason that they deserve representation. As long as Savisaar is the only one paying attention to them, he will get their votes. Maybe if other politicians paid attention to them things would be different.

It's a popular view among many to see Savisaar as "the devil". It wouldn't surprise me to find out that he has been involved in corrupt practices (and it seems clear that this is the case). But Eesti is unfortunately overflowing with corruption and pointing the finger at Savisaar has become one way for others to deflect scrutiny from themselves. It seems to me that compared to many other "heroes", Savisaar is relatively "clean". Look at all the scandals at the Federal level over the years. Why aren't more people crying murder over these things? Instead, we invite these people to visit the Esto House and applaud their speeches. I guess it doesn't matter how corrupt our leaders are, as long as they're not Savisaar, that's good enough. I would love to look forward to the day when people here stop ignoring the real problems in Eesti and stop blaming everything on Savisaar but unfortunately I don't see that day anywhere on the horizon. A sad state of affairs.
