Let's be honest here.
Yes, the cutbacks in public sector helped - but the critical ongoing factor is, that ~60,000 workers have left the country to seek work elsewhere; then they send money back to their families and into the Estonian economy alleviating the need for additional government action/assistance. Eesti rahvas votab katte ja teeb mis on vaja, et edasi jouda. Greeklased massavad ja nouavad teiste riikide kaest abi. Now where is Mr. T. Merilo asking to remove this comment ? Calling the Estonian President a bufoon is over the top !!!!! The EWR gate keeper is also asleep or do you agree with such comments about our president. what does this mean ?

From reading articles from papers in Estonia, it seems like Ilves is extremely unpopular these days (stuff to do with his farm and alleged inappropriate activity there is just one example). Talk about scathing article comments from the public...ouch! It's just a constant barrage from a lynch mob.

We are likely heading for a changing of the guard. I hope Ilves gets his due for all the good he has done. Right now he seems to have few friends. "Ilves called Krugman’s jabs “smug, overbearing and patronizing.”

For Ilves to use these terms sure seems comical to me.
It takes one to know one. THI is one of Estonia's greatest all time Estonian leaders and I'd place him among the top current leaders in Europe. He is an asset to Estonia and the entire diaspora and is regarded as such among his colleagues and peers.

It's unfortunate that certain webmasters harbour such constant ill will towards diaspora organizations, such as the churches and EAK, and are willing to assasinate the character of diaspora members -including THI- who actually achieve something for the good of all.

Thank goodness that eestielu.ca is now live and offering community members real news, without cynical, negative and destructive content. What are you talking about? Did you even read the Forbes article? The article is very postive towards THI and Estonia.

And where are the articles displaying "constant ill will towards diaspora organizations, such as the churches and EAK"? Do you hold EWR responsible for the difference of opinion among EAK membership and church members? This is pure lunacy! Quick search reagrding Ehatare revels 4 articles in the past year, two of them published in Eesti Elu paberileht (and these articles are actually critical of EAK):

Please check your facts before posting I believe it is some of the comments that are allowed to remain by the webmaster which are offensive , such as calling THI a bufoon. In the past , comments are erased when the webmaster simply doesn't agree. Read some of the attacks to the people than ran in opposition to the EAK . The webmaster should have removed these comments since they were directed at specific people. "Ära postita.... teksti mis halvustab põhjendamatult teisi isikuid." You should read comments in any Canadian, US, Estonian, etc mainstream website.

If you are a public figure or seeking public office, etc, you are also open for critizism. People who put forward their candidacy deserve their ideas examined and scrutinized.
