What can I say folks? I have been arguing this point all year, but it takes the President of Estonia to get the wheels rolling and have us take on a new attitude towards Russia. I wonder how the Toronto community looks on all this?

Ilves needs a bigger bridge so his sell-out entourage can get to Moscow more quickly to the next May 9th butt kissing.

Why does he not try to do something for the estonian people besides spouting bs platitudes?

Ilves speaks the mind of a man equipped to build bridges between member states of the European Union, not bridges between ethnic groups such as Estonians at home and abroad. Still, the voices abroad have supported everything done in the name of progress so far, and as far as their thinking is concerned, this point about improved trade with Russia is something that the EU wants implemented at all costs. No one this side of the Atlantic is doing much to stop the progress. It's only a few lone wolves in Toronto that can't see the wood from the trees.

Commerce and industry in Russia is run by a confederation of mafia-style gangs. The most powerful gang among them keeps peace among the others. It's the Government.

Estonians in Toronto have nothing to do with this. You must be both stupid and mad to think otherwise.

There is still a long way to go before one positive word from Toronto marks itself as a green light in Russia's favor. I don't think Canadian Estonians will ever come to terms with Russia, although all indications seem to show that Russia has met the fundamental requirements as a member state of Europe. Russia is again a superpower in Europe, and it is largely thanks to the persistence of Putinmania, Naši resistance to right wing fascism and convincing arguments that Russia's insistence of a broader global peace is finding ears in Brussels that listen.

No Maxim, Gazprom is a superpower, not Russia. Putinmania and nashi has brought about xenophobia, extreme corruption and neo-Stalinism.
