An editorial, I can understand. Paid advertising, that too. Even a reprinted press release - so long as both sides are allowed to express their views - is understandable given the limited resources of this newspaper. But this? This is not news and it's misrepresenting the truth.
If there's one way to alienate your readership, this is it. However, considering who it's coming from, I wouldn't expect much in the way of thoughtfulness.

0I believe that the Canadian people should be able to have a say in which type of government we want to run our country... that is why we have an election... there are reasons for everything and really if the other parties are unhaooy witht he way things are about to play out then they should just force another election... instead of trying to do a hostile take over... if they are just looking for a easy way out another election would eb the way to go... and really do they think this has no effect on our ecomny... good way to drive it into the ground!

0Yes, they both are completely legal. However, the mischaracterization of the coalition as being some sort of undemocratic, hostile coup is just plain wrong.
There is a worrying moral dilemma that this situation has created: A PM who has clearly lost the confidence of the house has been gifted the presedence of evading a confidence vote. That means that the GG would now have to grant the PM a prorogation request, should request one again in the next session of Parliament. He did it once, so what's stopping him from doing this again? Therefore, while the PM used to be answerable to the majority in a minority situation, he has now received a defacto majority through a legal constitutional loop hole. It is legal, but smacks of the sort of politics we see being played in Moscow.

0The rally in toronto and the one hosted by Jason Kenny featured several crass posters comparing the coalition with the Soviet Union with CCCP scrawled across the faces of the Dion, Layton and Duceppe.
As a member of this community, I find this comparison to be inappropriate and seriously offensive. This brings into question Mr. Kenny's involvement with this so-called communism monument. If he can gleefully use symbols of our suffering for his partisan political advantage, how can we take him and his pet project seriously?
