Thank you for shedding some light on this rather obscure news item.
We would all be ignorant about the US election if it weren't for the cutting edge, hard news style of the Eesti Elu website!
Cutting edge05 Nov 2008 10:05
Voter fraud in Ohio! EE is the first to report it on the commentary page! No hanging chads but people who really believe that the US is a democracy not a banker-run cabal have voted for change! Newsflash - be it Obama or anyone else - McCain never had a chance against the vested interests, nothing is going to change! Wait unti 2012, when Obama faces Jeb Bush! Ooh, the net commentators will have a field day!
ANC05 Nov 2008 11:05
Now that really is news!
The armchair lunatics are exposing the myths of US democracy. And all right here on the commentary pages of the EE! Why are you wasting your talents here? I hear the National Enquirer is looking for stringers.
Humourless05 Nov 2008 11:23
Curious how most of you critics have no sense of humour! Or maybe some of us are trying too hard? Lighten up and have fun, John : 3-.2 8
44th president, oh oh05 Nov 2008 07:58
Four sounds like “death” (sie) in Cantonese.
Most Chinese avoid number 4 because of this bad sounding. Number 4 is also pictured like the sun is being obscured by a cloud. Cloudy day is the image of number 4. The Chinese do not like to have a house or a car with the number 4 or a combination like 14 “must die”, 24 “easily dying”, 44 “dying and dead” and 74 “surely dead”.
Keegi05 Nov 2008 08:30
Luckily this was not a Chinese election (do they even have real elections in Communist China?) and luckly Obama is not Chinese.
sofia05 Nov 2008 14:03
4 stands for practicality & order. It means patience, logic, hard-work, loyalty, builder, steadfast, responsiblility, earth, & planner.

44 - a master number -- meaning "master builder". Desire with insight, wisdom with reason, intensity, conviction, heroism, self-control and discipline.

4 is the number which gets the nails hammered into place so that the other numbers can enjoy their vibrations and freedoms.

Americans gets what they deserved... First of all, 95% of neggers voted for Osama (Obama), (former muslim) just because it is a black... It is a big racism against white people. And the second: as a former muslim and marxist this person is an unstable solution to american problems. American people are so naive... they think that here is coming a new Jesus but the reality is somhing else...
Urpo from Tunder Pay05 Nov 2008 17:09
Jaa, why, why they not elect Finn from Minnisoda? Too much they talk, pergola !
Why I have to pay for it?

PS Jari Kurri greatest hockey player ever live. Without him, Gretzky be nothing !
Anonymous05 Nov 2008 21:33
Wow. Now that's offensive.
It's unlikely that anyone from Finland would read this rubbish. I'm guessing that whoever wrote this racist filth lives here and given the unintelligable english and logic-is probably well known to this online stain.
Anna Nüüm07 Nov 2008 07:39
I agree! Totally offensive!
I for one am thrilled that our neighbours to the south finally did the right thing!
It's time our european brothers and sisters woke up and realized that the world is a very small place and just because I may be blonde with blue eyes doesn't make me any different from my brother who might have dark hair and brown eyes, or my neighbour who could be South East Asian, or my other neighbour who is from Nigeria! (get the picture?)
O-BA-MA! O-BA-MA!
Peter07 Nov 2008 08:13
Obama's victory represents a major cultural shift in America. Since that country was founded it has been an extention of European civilization. This winning formula has been unmatched and has led to the US becoming the most prosperous country in history.
Now, America is decaying rapidly from within and Obama is the ultimate symbol of this decline. The racist self-hating liberal-leftists who are posting here should do some research on South Africa and Rhodesia and they will have a pretty good idea of where America is headed.
Anonymous07 Nov 2008 08:50
What is the basis for your remarks? Sounds to me like your trying to pass conjecture off as fact. I appreciate your right to post gloomy, semi-racist prognostications, but I can't stomach your baseless comparison of Obama to say, Mugabe or Chavez.
I think most readers will see your comments for what they are: Base fearmongering at its very worst
Peter07 Nov 2008 09:27
Let's forget that Obama is African-American and look at his political style. He is a very typical South American style leader with a populist campaign and a personality cult who is worshipped by the poor lower classes. Some of their expectations are so unrealistic that they really make you wonder. One woman at an Obama rally stated to the media that she will no longer have to worry amout her mortgage and gas prices when he comes to power. Many African-Americans also expect him to start paying reparations for slavery as this issue has already been called the next civil-rights struggle. Where will this money come from? I expect that with the declining economy many of the people who expected miracles from him will be the first to turn on him when their illusions are shattered.
Anonymous07 Nov 2008 09:52
Your trying to distort the facts again. Obama's campaign never said that his administration would pay reparations nor did they say he would pay off everyones mortgage. Your insinuating that these promises were made by Obama when they absolutely were not.
Even in Canada, 40% of the voters in the past two elections wrongly believed that Harper would not tax income trusts and would not run a deficit. (oops, he did say those things, didn't he. My bad).
2losers07 Nov 2008 13:31
He did say he was going to "redistribute the wealth" did he not. If you don't have the will to get an education and work hard to succeed , Obama was your choice. Only losers would back Obama. Good luck losers.
Maxim07 Nov 2008 14:03
Peter-guess what? You're absolutely correct!! And what is really scary is the fact that Estonians' tolerance of Russians is now being tested with the notion that if the US can do it, so can Estonia. Far be it from a practical joke, but stories a rife that next Estonian President should be a citizen of Russian background- say the same line of thinkers as those tolerant of "Obama bin left-wing".
Maxim07 Nov 2008 14:12
Anonymous-you are full of the good ol' smelly farm fodder that believes $#IT can be turned to clay. I'm looking forward to your comments on bin Barack in six months time-if he's given that much time before the country pushes the eject button!
Anonymous07 Nov 2008 15:24
You don't have an argument so you immediately go for the lowest common denominator:Race. And then you follow with a low ad hominem.

Betcha think your pretty clever - dontcha (wink)!
Anonymous07 Nov 2008 15:26
I thought Maxim was tolerant, just and thoughtful. Who is this biggoted, reactionary imposter?
For Puppet Obama07 Nov 2008 15:54
It is frightening to see just how many israeli citizens make decisions in other governments.
They all support more wars.

Right. So you're citing an article from an extremist site that features the following headlines:

Christians brace for gang-rape, slaughter -WND

'Thy kingdom come' through Obama President-elect's headquarters declare, 'To God be the glory' for victory
--WND

WND's 'Shooting Back' shows why Christians should own guns
Biblical defense of bearing arms by man who fought terrorists attacking church
--WND

'Bible' stars celebs as God's messengers- WND

Jewish Temples never existed -WND

Everyone looking for Noah's Ark in wrong place? -WND

Can anyone say "racist cracker jack"?

Right.
So was the information in the article wrong ?
If yes, please illuminate me.
Thanks
Anonymous07 Nov 2008 17:05
There is nothing in this article that would indicate that Emmanuel is a closet "Zionist" who has converted Obama to Black zionism.

Whats odd, is that you call him a Muslim (as if it were a dirty word), and then you call him a Zionist. You're already at the letter "Z", so what's next? Harper called Martin a pedophile in the '06 election. Will you stoop as low as that?

Again, I point out a few headlines that the author of the previous post considers to be reliable and objective sources:

Christians brace for gang-rape, slaughter -WND

'Thy kingdom come' through Obama President-elect's headquarters declare, 'To God be the glory' for victory
--WND

WND's 'Shooting Back' shows why Christians should own guns

Everyone looking for Noah's Ark in wrong place? -WND

Now read and try to comprehend.
Obama picks an Israeli Zionist to be his chief of staff to provide him with similar guidance that the neocons gave GWB.

No such comments were made:
"that would indicate that Emmanuel is a closet "Zionist" who has converted Obama to Black zionism."
or
"Whats odd, is that you call him a Muslim (as if it were a dirty word), and then you call him a Zionist. You're already at the letter "Z", so what's next? Harper called Martin a pedophile in the '06 election. Will you stoop as low as that?"

These are your own fanatasies.

Obama's policies, the first supporting the $800 B bankers bailout and now his choice for chief of staff, are the proof in the pudding which shows just whose puppet he is.

Anonymous08 Nov 2008 04:17
A week ago a vote for Barack meant the end of Isreal, now he's a black zionist?
Anonymous08 Nov 2008 06:10
Oh - what you said is pretty clear and clearly nutty.

McCain also supported the bailout.

And it's true that he was seen as the "anti-Isreal" candidate.

Thanks for the new link to this Hamas mouthpiece.
Peter08 Nov 2008 06:27
Obama's appointment of former Israeli army volunteer Emmanuel is bizzare if you consider the massive support that Arabs gave to him. I was reading one of the local Arab-Canadian newspapers a few weeks ago and they really believed that Obama would crush the power of the Israel lobby and bring peace to the Middle-East. Where they ever wrong!
Anonymous08 Nov 2008 07:01
Emmanuel is a long serving Chicagoland congressman. He is a right leaning democrat and by choosing him to be his chief of staff, Obama is clearly signaling his intent to govern from the center.
Would you be screaming bloody murder if someone who had served a few years in the Estonian army were asked to join a Canadian or US administration?
Anonymous08 Nov 2008 07:11
Well, as it turns out, Emanuel didn't serve in the Israeli forces. He was a civilian volunteer who cleaned brake pads for the army during the first Gulf War!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R...

I know that wikipedia isn't an anti-semetic / christian fundamentalist / racist / conspiracy outlet, but it'll have to do. I think it's pretty "reliable" and doesn't carry the stink of race or religion based hate your citings seem to feature.
Peter08 Nov 2008 08:10
The Wikpedia article was very interesting. It states clearly that Emmanuel's father and uncle were members of the Irgun, a terrorist organization that was active in Israel. His association with Freddie Mac was also very disturbing.
Anonymous08 Nov 2008 10:24
Yes - I agree that the Irgun fact isn't particularily palitable. But we should remember that this was his father and that the father was alledgedly part of the organization decades before he was even born and that the organization disintegrated in the late 40's.

He was indeed a board member of Freddie Mac during the reporting controversy. Which now makes me quesiton the appointment. Thanks for pointing that out.
Maxim08 Nov 2008 14:05
Anonymous is equating Arab conditions with those of Estonia, informing us that that someone working in either place is equivalently positioned to work for the Canadians. I guess that really puts paid to any danger that multicultism can impose on the country when really it makes no difference who comes from where (if you've secretly expressed your devotion to hugging oak trees or hoping to realize the pleasure sought through seven virgins promised to any muslim willing to cut the throat of an non-muslim-especially someone of semitic persuasion.)

Anonymous is bent on playing the politically correct human being. In that sense no one can blame her. She loves her country and its politics and supports it without reservation. Perhaps if there were more people like her, the world would be a better place. However, at this point in history I think the decisions of today are not going to reflect well in the future, as the country needs different answers to the solutions which will be proposed by the forthcoming Democratic party of Cappucinoland.
