I recieved an invitation too. It was meant to woo Baltic voters. Any politician in any riding will meet with voters at a private home.
It just happens that no Thornhill voters turned out and they all came from Toronto.

It also appears that Mr. Kent will say or do anything to get elected. See this from Kady O'Malley:

So I'm not sure I'd trust anything he says anymore. After three consecutive losses, he's getting desperate. Looks like the Estonians effectively burned yet another bridge!

"Kent is an award-winning veteran journalist who has endorsements and respect from all of the top news anchors."
I guess not!
Thanks for the link above.

The partisan vitriol just drips from Anonymous' jowls. Estonians need as many MPs, from all parties to tout their cause. Yes, support the Liberal, Tory, NDP candidate in your riding, if you see some benefit to our community or country of heritage. Getting hung up in internecine battles is just self-defeating.

OK.
Why then are we to support someone who has never done a single thing for the community versus someone who has supported our community and causes in caucus and committees?
Why are we encouraging our community to vote against someone who supports us??? Especially when the incumbent is way ahead in the local polls. A bit counter intuitive me thinks. With this sort of logic, it's no wonder we've completely lost our voice in Ottawa.

Congratulations to Peter Kent on the occasion of winning in the Thornhill riding and a seat in Canadian Parliament. Because of the efforts of the Keelmanns the Baltic community will have a strong voice in the Government of Canada, unlike the member from the neighbouring riding of Richmond Hill.

Are you seriously suggesting that a few hours of meager effort actually won Kent the seat? And that he'll actually do something for us because a dozen people showed up at someone's house for cookies and tea?
With perspective like this, it's no wonder the community has done poorly in getting the gov't to act on our issues!

Maybe if you read the posy you will see that the inference is that the cookies and tea were a connection to Peter Kent by the Estonian-Canadians. This may be useful in giving a his ear to them.

Nowhere does it say that his win is attributed to the meeting.

Cookies and tea are "cute." They don't win elections; they don't pay for the MP's ear; and they certainly don't pay for his voice in caucus and even less so in the house.
Politics is for grownups. Learn that and you'll get MPs working for us in Ottawa.
