wynne may be "thrilled to have been asked by the premier to continue in the education portfolio",
but the same can not be said for parents who do not want their children to be brainwashed with this government's social engineering agenda
Anonymous30 Nov 2007 10:29
Hmm, too bad the majority of Ontarians do want it and your savior got whooped during the elections.

You can always home school!
Anonymous30 Nov 2007 15:15
For our sake, I hope you don't have children.
of course01 Dec 2007 07:14
Yes, we all want collective thinking, preprogramed sexually mallable young children produced by our public education system.
Free thinking individuals only get in the way when you are trying to raise sheep.

WND.com? What a great source, haha.

This gutter journalism (link above) presents homophobia and extremism at its very worst.
Your comments reflect very poorly on our community and I wish you would think about this before posting here.

This article has some great quotes, really a good laugh. For example:

[i]"When it comes to actively promoting sin to public school children, the homosexuals are light years ahead of adulterers, fornicators and substance abusers, ..."[i]

[i]"They don't allow religion in school but they're going to allow homosexuality in schools. That makes no sense," she said." [i] - Yup, homosexuals should be banned from schools.

Seriously, this kind of trash has no place around here or anywhere and it's a good thing that we have a government and education minister who agrees.
to maximus05 Dec 2007 10:02
you continually seem to have a problem with the english language, maybe you should stick with greek, if that is your mother tongue

" ... but they're going to allow homosexuality in schools. That makes no sense," she said." - Yup, homosexuals should be banned from schools"

that comment did not refer to people as you inferred, but rather to the teaching of a subject

most parents send their children to school to be educated in traditional subjects, not to be force fed pop culture crap
Maximus05 Dec 2007 10:39
The California law states: [i]"No teacher shall give instruction nor shall any school district sponsor any activity that promotes a discriminatory bias because of a characteristic [including perceived gender.]"[i].

Where does this say that they will be force fed homosexuality in schools? Also, if you think that homosexuality is "pop culture crap" then you seriously have problems and are out of touch with 21st century reality, you'd do well in Iran.

Which Ontario school is teaching that which you claim it is teaching?
Name one.

Gender bender05 Dec 2007 11:56
High schools have "gender bender days", as part of forming a communit. Many HS extracurricular groups are race oriented and sexual preference oriented (ie Asian club, rainbow club.) You cant belong if you are not Asian or a rainbow - how is that inclusive??) These clubs exist - just ask a parent of a highshcooler that takes the time to listen to their teen...
t06 Dec 2007 09:51
Where exactly are these racist and homophobic comments? Do you feel that EE is somehow responsible for the link posted by an anonymous commentator and approves of it? You might disagree with the linked article, but you shouldn't stifle the debate over it. And the subsequent comments do not approve of the article, they ridicule it.

I am sure you would be for gay rights, equality for women and for general world piece and tolerance. Can you also tolerate that people can disagree with you? Or perhaps that is where you draw the line?
Anonymous06 Dec 2007 11:31
By deleting posts that are critical of racist and homophobic remarks and that support basic human rights and Charter freedoms, is unfortuntate. I assume this post will also be deleted.

How this "newspaper" does not understand why they're losing readers is beyond comprehension. Articles published in the past months and years prove a complete disconnect from the real and evolving values of this community.

Soon enough there won't be any readers left because xenophobes like the one above will have driven all the reasonable and moderate Estonians, who make up the majority of this community, away.
t06 Dec 2007 12:32
I don't get your comment. Have editors deleted posts that were critical of racist and homophobic remarks and Charter Rights? It is hard to believe! I see several comments here that fit this category and they have not been deleted.

Also, what exactly is xenophobic in my post? Do you even know what xenophobia means? I really genuinely don't get it. I was advocating the right to disagree, I wasn't advocating racism, homophobia or xenophobia. I happen to think it is disgusting that some people dislike other people because of their race, sexual orientation or place of origin.
to maximus06 Dec 2007 12:42
the posts that were deleted were crude and vulgar
Anonymous06 Dec 2007 13:11
When did freedom of assembly and expression become vulgar? And when did Ontario's improved and recently internationally acclaimed education system become crude?
I see nothing offensive about the protection of civil liberties as they are prescribed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Your comments clearly suggest otherwise.
t06 Dec 2007 13:23
Would you care to post your supposedly deleted comment again? The one which was critical of homophobia, racism and in support of Charter Rights. Again, I have really hard time to believe that editors would delete something like this.
Anonymous06 Dec 2007 13:29
Regarding my comment about xenophobia: I wasn't referring to your posts.
I too was suprised that posts critical of racism and homophobia would have been removed.
t06 Dec 2007 14:07
Maybe your post wasn't deleted, maybe it didn't go thru the spam check? It has happened to me, those funny characters are sometimes hard to read.

There are also clear-text characters right above the "funny" ones that should make it easier.

Anyway, if you care to post your comment again, we'll see if it gets deleted. Or maybe wait after 5pm, all the editors have gone home by then :-)
Maximus06 Dec 2007 14:23
Crude and vulgar, really? Sure, they were a tad personal in their attack but there was nothing that crude. There were other posts removed as well, not just mine, but it's your forum and you're free to delete what you want.

What disturbs me is that other posts which have been made on numerous occasions on EE are racist and homophobic and don't get removed.
to maximus06 Dec 2007 14:26
if memory serves correctly, the posts that were deleted were telling someone to come out of the closet, and offeris of sexual positions = crude
to maximus06 Dec 2007 14:40
"... posts which have been made on numerous occasions on EE are racist and homophobic and don't get removed"
please identify which such posts you have issue with
Anonymous06 Dec 2007 17:26
The "Gender Bender" post and any of the many others posted by this individual. The insinuation that non-caucasians and homosexuals –who are well within their rights to establish clubs- are perverting our education system is racist, homophobic and crude and vulgar.
Anonymous06 Dec 2007 17:28
I will repeat that those comments reflect very poorly on our community and should be stopped.
The majority of individuals in this community are not biggoted and are in fact, moderate and supportive of fundamental rights under the Charter.
to maximus06 Dec 2007 22:17
you are in need of reading comprehension courses !
maybe its a family thing, we know maxim needs them as well
Anonymous07 Dec 2007 06:32
The "Of Course" point in the first series of posts coupled by "Gender Bender" - the title of which is very offensive- make for homophobic and racist statements.

Nowhere does this person make a point about the "exclusivity" of these clubs - this is not the purpose of these posts. This person's MO is to accuse the Ontario Education system of a deliberate agenda to "pervert" our youth through multiculturalism and homosexualiy - both protected by the Charter.

As for making it worse? My views are that of the moderate majority. I would suggest that things might get worse for others if such rubbish is continuously peddled on these pages. Their comments do not reflect the overarching values of this community but unfortunately may be misconstrued by outsiders as such.

Ontario’s education system is again one of the best in the world and the envy of many, many other provinces, states and nations. We should be proud of our children’s achievements within this challenging and motivating system and not minimize our youth with racist and homophobic accusations.
t07 Dec 2007 07:20
I am sorry, Anonymous, you still don't make much sense. This is going to be my last post in this thread, I can't waste my time arguing with people like you.

1. [i]The "Of Course" point in the first series of posts coupled by "Gender Bender" - the title of which is very offensive- make for homophobic and racist statements.
[i]
There is nothing offensive in "Of Course" point. Only a person with extremely thin skin and with prejudice can read into it. As for the term "gender bender" being offensive - how come? I have to admit I didn't know exactly what it meant, so I Googled it. And guess what, it is not considered offensive at all! There was even (mainstream) X-files episode titled "gender bender".

2. [i]Nowhere does this person make a point about the "exclusivity" of these clubs[i]

How about here: [i]You cant belong if you are not Asian or a rainbow - how is that inclusive??[i]

3. [i]This person's MO is to accuse the Ontario Education system of a deliberate agenda to "pervert" our youth through multiculturalism and homosexuality - both protected by the Charter.[i]
Where exactly does this person accuse Ontario Education system? Where does (s)he use the word 'pervert'.

Anonymous, you accuse others of racism and homophobia without any backup. Your arguments to support your claims are laughable. Nobody can take you seriously like this. I think you have way too many raging emotions that seriously interfere with your objectivity.
Anonymous07 Dec 2007 07:48
By relegating my strong values for basic human freedom and my support for the Charter of Rights to "raging emotions" is unreasonable and unfortunate.

Simply because I don't believe that there exists a vast conspiracy to systematically homosexualize all children by the Ontario Ministry of Education, does not mean that I have "raging emotions."

Furthermore, to level this blatantly misogynistic insult yet again proves your extremist values.
t07 Dec 2007 08:24
Ok, one more time, even though I promised not to do it ...

[i]Simply because I don't believe that there exists a vast conspiracy to systematically homosexualize all children by the Ontario Ministry of Education, does not mean that I have "raging emotions." [i]

I accused your raging emotions interfering with your objectivity, e.g. accusing other people of racism and homophobia without any credible proof. You misquote and make childish arguments. If your emotions haven't temporarily clouded your judgment and objectivity then you are just plain stupid. I hope for the former. And BTW, I am making this argument based on your posts, I have no idea whether you are black or white, man or a women, hetero, gay or bi. So don't come out and accuse me again in any phobias.

[i]Furthermore, to level this blatantly misogynistic insult yet again proves your extremist values.[i]

How can you accuse me of misogyny if I don't even know whether you are are a man or a women (or something in between? )

Please stop this nonsense. Your comments reflect very poorly on our community and should be stopped.
Anonymous07 Dec 2007 08:58
Why is it that when anyone on this site counters extremist points with moderation, they're immediately swarmed with aggressive ad homonym attacks?

Just because I don't believe that the Ontario Government is conspiring to "pervert" our youth does not make me a "stupid" woman with "raging emotions." Your juvenile name calling underlines my points and emboldens my resolve.

You'll need to come up with something better than that to convince readers that our cherished Charter Rights are worthless.
