Why the Ron Paul fandom on EE?
Fandom09 Nov 2007 11:46
Have not noticed "fandom" on this site - a quick search of archives brought up only one reference to Paul.

But Paul is on the money when he points out how the Federal Reserve and the bankers that run the western economy have no concerns for the citizen..

Even Alan Greenspan used to sing that tune, before he headed the FED!!

(
“The abandonment of the gold standard made it possible for the welfare statists to use the banking system as a means to an unlimited expansion of credit. In the absence of the gold standard, there is no way to protect savings from confiscation through inflation. There is no safe store of value. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the hidden confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists’ antagonism toward the gold standard.” -Alan Greenspan, 1966)

My comment wasn't meant as a critique of Ron Paul, he has some interesting ideas (and some odd ones). Just wondering why the only mention of the US presidential elections has been about him.

Well, if you have some US presidential candidate about whom you would like to get a discussion started, feel free to identify him-her. Most of the other candidates line up as typical fronts for the financial elite.

What makes Ron Paul so interesting and special is that he does not have support from corporate America, yet he has a groundswell of support from the common man, reminiscent of Ronald Reagan.
The question of course then is 'why is this?'

I guess my issue is that this is suppose to be a newspaper. Media is generally suppose to be unbiased (I know, this is never the case) and offer multiple points of view. So seeing the views of only 1 of the many candidates (and one who honestly has little chance of getting the nomination) is a bit bothersome.

Again, I have nothing against Paul, just looking for some balance.
