Our problems would be solved if we put our trust in know-it-all do-gooders, like Jaak Järve, Allan Meiusi and Maxim de la Trine.
They're willing to identify and manage our best interests in Estonian affairs.

All this assumes the best interest of the community is to stay on Broadview. But what if the best interest of both the Estonian House and the community is to move to a new location?

If it's true that "the best interest of both the Estonian House and the community is to move to a new location" then it shouldn't be too difficult to explain why that is. Asking people to have blind faith doesn't seem to be working which in my opinion, does credit to our community who deserve better.

The new location does not make sense finacially speaking.... If everyone wants a NEW building - this can be done for 1/4 cost on an existing site (958 Broadview). The presentation pictures are very pretty but how realistic? Would you pay 22 million dollars for a 3 storey building over a subway line and pay to renovate an old building that is just as worn out as the EH? Everyone knows that if you go into the TC basement, you can hear the subway lines. Just imagine the sound with glass exterior. A better investment would be raising funds of 3-4 million to renovate Broadview which has three things Madison does not - direct HWY access; parking and no highrise buildings directly surrounding it.

Totally agree. So where is the Broadview location water-tight future bldg plan?

We need to catch up to the Madisonites and do just as good a job. We need to hire our experts/architects/planners so that we can be proud of the result.

There is only one sure fire way to control the EH board - control the bank. If you don't like what the bank is doing, let them know, loud and clear. If it doesn't help, pull your money out. If you don't like big banks, sign up with another credit union, e.g Latvian.

Why has the EH board done nothing to lease out at marketplace prices the most desirable EH location, which is its Broadview Avenue facing ground floor? Its long time under usage by the EH Management, and the very part time, (mostly no time) estore, shows a total lack of commitment and creativity from the EH Board.

If we can get 300 Esto families to donates $20,000 each, it can be done!
lugeja24 Jan 2018 09:41
I suspect your math is off. Or if not, perhaps you can clarify - why would it take 6 million dollars to make staying where on Broadview Ave. a viable option?

Bonus question:
How many $20,000 donations in addition to the proceeds from the proposed sale of the Esto House would be needed to complete the Madison project?

Are you willing to lead by example?
